Thank you for visiting the page of the United Effort by the Detroit Community to provide aid to the Armenian Schools and Students in Lebanon who have been affected by the country’s current economic turmoil and port explosion.

Over the past several months, Lebanon has been impacted by political instability, financial crisis and Covid-19. Most recently, the huge explosion at the Port of Beirut has caused immense destruction and has further impacted our Armenian communities nearby.

The Detroit for Armenians Committee, comprised of the Armenian Churches of Greater Detroit as well is a vast majority of local Armenian organizations, has come together on a united front with the purpose of helping our brothers and sisters abroad. The committee has secured a large container and is calling on the entire community to fill it up with school supplies to benefit the Armenian schools and students in Lebanon. The container is expected to be filled by September 30th and will arrive in Lebanon in the hands of the Lebanese-Armenian Rehabilitation Commission to distribute to Armenian schools and students in need. The Lebanese-Armenian Rehabilitation Commission, formed in direct response to the port explosion, consists of representatives from the Armenian Orthodox, Catholic, and Protestant communities, Armenian political parties, and humanitarian organizations.
